ABOUT THE BID

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a geographically defined area, where businesses come together and agree to invest collectively in projects and services that the businesses believe will improve their trading environment.

BID projects are new and additional projects and services; they do not replace services that are already provided by Glasgow City Council and other statutory bodies.

Working together, we ensure that we are supporting our levy payers through making Shawlands a vibrant community that people want to visit, live and work in.

In 2022 the BID renewal ballot was voted through by a majority, and since then we have been working hard across four key areas.

Our Themes for 2022 - 2027

  • We want people to spend as much time as possible in Shawlands, so it is important that this is a well-kept attractive place. This includes our hanging baskets & planters, keeping on top of litter and graffiti and reporting trouble spots to the council.

  • By bringing more people to the area, the businesses will have new customers and the area will thrive. We aim to do this through a variety of methods, including social media, digital marketing , PR and events.

  • We want to use our organisation to promote local businesses working together, and provide a stronger collective voice with the council for getting things done and making improvements. We can also work with other BID areas and external organisations to provide additional opportunities.

  • It is important that both the businesses and visitors feel safe in Shawlands, and we work alongside the Community Council to promote this.
